Counting the Omer – Feeding the Land, not the Landfill

Organic waste {fruit peels, egg shells, grass clippings, vegetable scraps, etc.} makes up more than 30% of the trash in our landfills!  (Landfill material release greenhouse gases that contribute to climate change. )

Blessing for Day Eleven

בָּרוּךְ אַתָּה יְיָ אֱלֹהֵֽינוּ מֶֽלֶךְ הָעוֹלָם, אֲשֶׁר קִדְּשָֽׁנוּ בְּמִצְוֹתָיו, וְצִוָּֽנוּ עַל סְפִירַת הָעֹֽמֶר.

Baruch atah Adonai Eloheinu melech ha-olam asher kid’shanu b’mitzvotav vitzivanu al s’firat ha-omer.

Blessed are You, Adonai our God, Sovereign of the universe, who makes us holy with mitzvot, and commands us concerning the counting of the Omer.


הַיּוֹם אַחַד עָשָׂר יוֹם שֶׁהֵם שָׁבֽוּעַ אֶחָד וְאַרְבָּעָה יָמִים לָעֹֽמֶר.

Hayom achad asar yom shehem shavua echad v’arbaah yamim la-omer.

Today is eleven days, which is one week and four days of the Omer.
