Counting the Omer – Feeding the Land, not the Landfill
According to the EPA, food is the single largest category of materials placed in municipal landfills. Landfills are the third largest source of human-generate methane emissions in the United States.
Blessing for Day Twenty Eight
בָּרוּךְ אַתָּה יְיָ אֱלֹהֵֽינוּ מֶֽלֶךְ הָעוֹלָם, אֲשֶׁר קִדְּשָֽׁנוּ בְּמִצְוֹתָיו, וְצִוָּֽנוּ עַל סְפִירַת הָעֹֽמֶר.
Baruch atah Adonai Eloheinu melech ha-olam asher kid’shanu b’mitzvotav vitzivanu al s’firat ha-omer.
Blessed are You, Adonai our God, Sovereign of the universe, who makes us holy with mitzvot, and commands us concerning the counting of the Omer.
.הַיּוֹם שְׁמוֹנָה וְעֶשְׂרִים יוֹם שֶׁהֵם אַרְבָּעָה שָׁבוּעוֹת לָעֹֽמֶר
Hayom sh’monah v’esrim yom shehem arbaah shavuot la-omer.
Today is twenty-eight days, which is four weeks of the Omer.
